Aromateria Scents & Sensibilities

Happiness is like perfume. You can't give it away without getting some on yourself.

FAQs

How do I use it?
Just rub on your skin. Best place to apply are the pulse points (back of the ears, neck, wrist, or back of the elbow) Not recommended for clothes or fabric because it is oil-based.

The solid perfume sticks also doubles as a nail and cuticle balm and can also be used on rough skin patches like elbows, knees or ankles.

Why do you have castor oil as one of your ingredients? I’ve seen Breaking Bad*. I know what Ricin is.
Castor oil is used as an emollient to make it easier to apply the product to your skin. It is regularly used for lipbalms and has been used orally as a laxative for many years.

How Walter White does it?** Ricin is a poison that can be made from the waste left over from processing castor beans. Ricin is part of the waste “mash” produced when castor oil is made. That said our labels have clear warnings about ingesting or using the solid perfumes on your lips.

*If you’re confused about the reference, please google Breaking Bad NOW and beg, borrow or steal (not a piracy endorsement) your way to watching them. This is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen (definitely an endorsement).
**Only guessing how Walter White does it, the above info is from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castor_oil

So, can I use it as lipgloss?
Please don’t. The base may be 100% safe for lips. That said, the scents are a mix of essential oils and synthetic fragrance oils so they might cause an allergic reaction. And definitely not for eating no matter how yummy they smell. Not mentioning names, but you know who you are.

How long does the scent last on my skin?
Standard testing is around 3 hours. Some scents last longer than others. Anything that’s sweet (contains vanilla) lasts longer than citrus or minty scents. Of course, there’s that normal caveat, depends on your skin chemistry.

How long does a stick last?
Solid perfumes tend to last a long time since you only apply a little at a time. We started selling solid perfume tubes last December 2011, and as of this writing (July 31, 2012), people have yet to finish their tubes and some off them use it everyday.

How long does the solid perfume keep or how long before it goes bad?
The shelf life is a year after the manufacture date. The best before date is printed on the label near the Aromateria logo.
