Happiness is like perfume. You can't give it away without getting some on yourself.
Not working for money is an interesting thing. And by this I don’t mean not working for money as in stealing or being an investment banker. I mean looking at work not just as a means to get money, but as an expression of what you want to be doing and what you are passionate about.
It might mean you don’t get as much opportunities to enjoy the things you like. It means putting off traveling the world or missing out on that once-in-a-lifetime concert every now and then.
But it also does NOT mean that the world owes you for missing out on those things. Not working for money is not any nobler than working to pay for the fancy car.
Not working for money is a choice, and so is being bitter and sneering at sell-outs. One doesn’t necessarily mean the other but it also doesn’t mean you can’t do both.
